The State Championship attracts over a thousand players from 4 to 18 years old from all over California as well as from other States and countries. The attendees include National Masters, FIDE Masters, International Masters, and future Grand Masters!

Since the children are accompanies with adults, this year friends and family can also play in the event.

Dear Chess Friends:Warm welcome to CalChess State Scholastic Championship 2009 to be held from May 1-3, 2009 in Parkside Convention Center (at 180 Park Ave., San Jose, CA 95113) and Crown Plaza San Jose (championship/varsity sections only at 282 Almaden Blvd., San Jose, CA 95113). Be there or be a weak square!
This event will use the April 2009 USCF Supplement Rating. Any player may play in a higher rating (or grade group) but not vice versa.
We have commitments from the best Tournament Directors but need more volunteers to help make this event a success.
